A boy in China's northeast city of Dalian has shocked his mother after she discovered he earned 100 yuan (US$13) for being a henchman to a rich classmate.
The boy's duties include helping the "boss" buy things, and standing behind the richer student during disputes with other classmates, the New Business Paper reported on Thursday
His role can earn the 11-year-old 100 yuan a month, a fair sum for a primary student, the report said.
Asked why his classmate would want to hire an entourage, the boy was quoted as saying his schoolmate wanted to imitate "big bosses" such as his father or actors on television.
Such people always have crowds behind them, which the boy reportedly said looks cool.
Fearful the experience might tarnish her son's childhood, his mother called the parents of the little "boss", but to her surprise learned they condoned his actions.
The parents reportedly said it wasn't a bad thing and meant they did not have to worry their son would be lonely as they had no time to care for him. |
