Shanghai last Sunday entered its earliest summer season in 10 years, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said today.
Compared with the average in the past three years, this year's summer is a week earlier.
The high today was expected to hit 33 degrees Celsius, the low 18 degrees.
So, today is the fifth consecutive day after Sunday where the average temperature reached 22 degrees, said the bureau.
"Shanghai officially entered summer on Sunday, May 13," said Dai Jianhua, a senior weatherman.
The traditional beginning of summer in China's Lunar calendar, or "Li Xia," fell on May 6 this year. The official date of summer normally follows "Li Xia."
It will turn overcast tonight and some areas will have thunder showers, said the bureau. |
