Wang Xiaoguang, nicknamed "Ai Qingqing," was recently fired by her boss after her efforts to duplicate a Chinese version of trading a paperclip for a house seriously affected her daily work performance.

Inspired by Canadian Kyle MacDonald, Wang, who also participated in this year's Super Girl competition, came up with the idea of bartering a paper clip for a house within 100 days.

The girl first asked for a paperclip from a real estate agency. She then traded it with a man for his picture. In the next few days, she traded the picture for a jade Buddha, then a mobile phone, followed by a pearl necklace. After 18 days of trades, she now has two bottles of wine worth about 6,000 yuan, or about $750.

The success with the barters has come at a price. Wang was informed by her boss that her hobby had seriously affected her daily work since she was too busy trading things and always asked for leave. The company gave her two choices: either quit bartering or quit her job.

Wang's sister says this setback will not stop her from bartering, even though she doesn't know yet whether she will succeed.
