Feng Xiaogang's war epic "The Assembly" is among 60 Chinese films set to attract international distributors next week at the 12th Beijing Screenings.
The annual Beijing Screenings will take place from September 23 to 26 and are seen as a way for Chinese films to get into the world market. This year more than 100 distributors from 22 countries and regions are expected to select their favorites in Beijing, a press conference announced on Tuesday.
In addition to "The Assembly," popular films such as the animated "Storm Rider Clash of the Evils" and the star-studded comedy "Crossed Lines" are also seeking representation.
But films selected for screening are not necessarily commercial blockbusters, said Han Sanping, president of China Film Group, the event's organizer.
Han said the carefully selected line-up also includes art-house films by less famous directors.
Movie-goers can enjoy the event with approximately 40 films being screened with an entrance fee of only 5 yuan (US$0.73) each.
