The nominees for the upcoming 17th Golden Rooster and Full Blossom Film Festival have been unveiled at a press conference in Beijing, the Chutian Metropolis Daily reported on Friday.

"The Assembly," a war epic by veteran director Feng Xiaogang, and the romance film "The Knot," which features rising actors Li Bingbing and Chen Kun are the most anticipated contenders, the newspaper said.

Chinese pop music superstar Jay Chou was nominated for Best Supporting Role for his cinematic debut in "Curse of the Golden Flower."

Since the launch of the online voting system in April, the organizing committee of the film festival has received 2,728,798 votes.

The film festival will be held in Dalian from September 10 to 13.
