Taiwan music group Mayday and American rock band Linkin Park will headline benefit concerts in Shanghai and Beijing on October 12 and 19.

Part of the proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit organization Music for Relief to help with reconstruction of China's quake-devastated Sichuan Province, the Beijing Times reported on Monday.

The charity show will last four hours, and each of the bands will perform for at least 90 minutes, the newspaper said.

Chester Bennington, the lead vocalist of Linkin Park, said the band hopes the concert will call more attention to the ongoing efforts in the quake-affected areas and that they are proud to be helping the people in need.

Music for Relief, a charity begun by Linkin Park in 2005, seeks to bring the music community together to provide aid to victims of natural disasters around the world.
