A Filipino feature film won a prize at an Indian film festival this weekend, the second to win international prizes in a month, Philippine Daily Inquirer website reported on Sunday.
"Confessional" directed by Jerrold Tarog and Ruel Antipuesto won the Best Film in the First Features section of the 10th Osian' s Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema held in New Delhi Saturday, said the report.
"Confessional" tells the story of an amateur documentarian who elicits an explosive "confession" from a crooked politician.
British film critic Tony Rayns is the head of the jury, which also includes Hyderabad-born filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor and Sri Lankan-born filmmaker and journalist Vimukthi Jayasundara.
The jury decided to grant a 5,000 U.S. dollar reward to the film plus a 20,000 U.S. dollar financing for the next film to be shot by the Filipino producers, said the report.
The Osian's victory of "Confessional" came in three weeks after Filipino film maker Jim Libiran's "Tribu" won the Youth Jury Prize at the recently concluded Paris Cinema International Film Festival in France, according to the report. |
