Chinese entertainment stars have initiated a campaign calling on people to extend a helping hand when news came that a major earthquake jolted southwestern China's Sichuan province on May 12.

Actors include Zhang Guoli, Wang Zhongjun, Lin Zhongjun as well as Andy Lau from Hong Kong have donated money amounting to 20.2 million yuan to the quake stricken areas, according to sina.com.cn.

The website also published three ways of making donations through bank accounts, mail or directly at a specially opened office.
