The collapse of a temporary roof on a bridge used for a television production in southwest China's Yunnan Province injured 38 people on the weekend, the local government said on Monday.

The accident on the set of the war drama "My Regimental Commander and My Regiment", occurred at 5:20 p.m. on Sunday on a bridge in Qushi Town, Tengchong County, Baoshan City, when the group were shooting a scene, Baoshan municipal government officials said.

The accident was the latest to beset the production after a blast killed an explosives technician earlier this month.

On Sunday, the temporary roof built by the production crew collapsed when nearly 170 staff and extras were working at the site. The framework reportedly gave way and the roof landed on the 38 people, injuring seven seriously. On Monday, all were still in hospital.

On April 8, a bomb explosion killed Guo Yan and injured two assistants also in Tengchong. Guo ignited the bomb mistakenly and was killed instantly by a shell fragment that penetrated his chest.

Last year, the production crew created the extremely popular "Soldiers Sortie", a tale about Chinese army recruits in the 21st century.
