Hong Kong pop singers, including Andy Lau, Eason Chan and Joey Yung, performed at a local charity concert held by the American fast-food chain McDonald's on Tuesday -- Universal Children's Day.

All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, and used on needy children.

In 1954, UNESCO recommended November 20 as Universal Children's Day. Every year since then, the day has been celebrated worldwide with activities devoted to promoting fraternity and understanding between children.

McDonald's launched its own fundraising event, World Children's Day, in 2002 to echo Universal Children's Day.
