After winning the Best Film award at the First Asian Film Awards earlier this year in Hong Kong, Korean monster movie "The Host" has gone on to scoop the Best Film award at the 43rd Baeksang Awards in South Korea on Wednesday.

"The War of Flowers," a film adaptation of a comic book with the same name, also won two big prizes - the Daesang Film Big Prize and Best Director for Choi Dong-hoon.

Ryu Seung-beom and former Miss Korea Yeom Jeong-ah were also named Best Actor and Actress.

The awards also named Jeong Ji-hoon, better known by his stage name Rain, as the Best New Actor for his work in "I'm A Cyborg, But That's Okay."

Best New Actress went to "The Fox Family"'s Park Si-yeon.

The awards also honored a slew of artists working in the country's extremely popular TV drama industry.

TV series "Jumong" took home the Daesang Big Prize in the drama category.

Kim Myung-min was named the Best TV Actor for his work in "Behind the White Tower," while "Fall in Love" star Son Ye-jin was the Best TV Actress.

Despite receiving four nominations, the much-touted "Hwang Jin-yi" failed to receive any prizes.
