The Hollywood undercover cop movie "Miami Vice", starring top actress Chinese Gong Li, will be screen on the Chinese mainland with modifications to some of its scenes.

A Beijing Times reporter learnt the movie had received screening permission from the distributor, Universal Pictures, yesterday night.

A modern remake of the slick '80s TV series, “Miami Vice” stars Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell as suave drug-busters.

The high-profile film earned about 25.2 million US dollars during its first 3 days in North America, topping on box office in its first week.

The Chinese premiere date has yet to be set, but Universal Pictures spokesperson Ms. Zhang said it would not screen until October.

Ms.Zhang also said Universal Pictures is trying to persuade Gong Li to promote Miami Vice when it is released in China.

Gong has yet to confirm as she has another blockbuster called "The City of Golden Armor" screening on the mainland this year.
