Chess: Chinese Players Shine in Turin

Chinese players are shining at the ongoing Chess Olympiad tournament in Turin after winning day one's opening matches.


Three Chinese girls, including woman grandmaster Zhao Xue and rising stars Shen Yang and Hou Yifan, each beat their Malaysian rivals to earn China a 3-0 victory.

On the men's side, grandmaster Wang Yue led two of his Chinese teammates to beat Syria 3.5-0.5.

The women's team will take on England next in day two's matches, while the men's team faces Scotland.

Over 250 teams will participate in the world's top chess tournament before it closes June 4th.
