The two sides reached an agreement Friday night after laborious talks.

Under the deal, the German player will represent the Shanghai club in China's domestic league until the end of the year. He should play in at least 70 % of their games during this period.

According to local Chinese reports, Jancker has promised to do his best to score more goals for the club in an effort to lift the club on the League's standings.

Carsten Jancker, 32, had played for German Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern in 2005/06. At the international level, Jancker has played 33 times for Germany, in which he scored 10 goals.
