| Forward Wang Yongbo's two goals have helped the Chinese U-20 team win over their visiting Japanese counterparts 2-0 during a friendly match Wednesday night in Changsha, in central China.
Hosts China started off at a good pace, trying to penetrate their opponents from two sides. A lack of cooperation between the players and a solid Japanese defense prevented the Chinese team from scoring early in the match.
The breakthrough came 20 minutes into the game as forward Wang Yongbo came into center position, got the ball from a team mate and made a clear shot before two Japanese defenders had time to do anything.
Japan then launched a series of attacks, posing some threat to the Chinese side, though to no avail.
China was leading 1-0 at half time.
Both teams adjusted their lineups in the second half. Chinese forward Wang Yongbo scored once again for China at 73 minutes into the game to secure the victory.
The match has been seen as a warm-up for the AFC Youth Championship, which will be on show in India from October 29 to November 12. China are in Group B with the United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Australia. |
