Cyprus President Congratulates Baghdatis

Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos congratulated on Tuesday Cypriot tennis player Marcos Baghdatis' victory over Croatia's No. 4 seeded Ivan Ljubicic in an Australian Open quarterfinals match with 3-2.

Speaking upon return from Moscow, where he paid a three-day working visit, the President expressed hope Baghdatis continues his victories in the Australian Grand Slam.

"I was informed of Baghdatis on the way back from Moscow and I would like convey our warmest congratulations and we hope that he will continue its success in the next round," the President noted.

After his magnificent victory over Ljubicic, Baghdatis will face Argentina's David Nalbandian for the semifinals.
