The Sun Always Shines

Dec. 6th.

According to my GPS, we have arrived at 89 south latitude, just one degree away from the South Pole.

It's summer time in the southern hemisphere. The closer we get to the South Pole, the more daytime we're enjoying. It seems that the sun is always hanging at 10 o'clock.

We have come to our first base. I took a little walk after dinner. To my disappointment, there is no penguins around, because they all live near the sea where they have easy access to their food.

We're going to embark on our expeditions tomorrow. We're scheduled to walk about 12 kms. It will be a brand new experience for me!
