China's Yan Zi beat Nuria Llagostera Vives to win her maiden WTA singles title at the Guangzhou International women's tennis tournament.


China's Yan Zi won her maiden WTA singles title at the Guangzhou International women's tennis tournament.

Yan took a commanding lead over Nuria Llagostera Vives and won the title 6-4, 4-0, when the Spaniard retired in the second set.

The 20-year-old Yan, ranked 163 in the world, took the first set, 6-4, from Llagostera Vives, who made the fourth round at Roland Garros this year.

She then pulled ahead, 4-0, before Llagostera Vives retired with a strained left hamstring.
