The American women's volleyball team, led by Chinese coach Lang Ping, rallied to beat arch rival Cuba in the gold medal match of the NORCECA Continental Championships.

The Americans played full sets 25-13, 22-25, 27-25, 20-25 and 15-10 for their third straight victory in the tournament.

Danielle Scott and tournament Most Valuable Player Nancy Metcalf each scored a match-high of 21 points for the winner.

"I did not do very much; it was the players who worked hard tonight," said Lang Ping. "We passed. I told my players if we don't pass well tonight the game will be over quick. We passed and served very well tonight ¨C much better than the first match against Cuba."

With the win over the 2004 Olympic bronze medalist, the Team USA now qualifies for the prestigious six-team Grand Champions Cup tournament in Japan in November.
