Pakistan Able to Defend if Attacked: FM
    2008-12-21 19:11:45     Xinhua

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Sunday said that Pakistan had all rights to defend if driven to war.

"Pakistan doesn't want war and we are desirous of peace, but if war is thrust on us, then we have all the rights to defend," Qureshi said. "We are prepared to fully cooperate with India, but India should provide concrete evidences."

The private Geo TV quoted Qureshi as saying that Pakistan possessed all the potentiality for defense and the Pakistan Armed Forces were absolutely prepared for defense.

On other issues, Qureshi said that the news about the Pakistani prime minister was under pressure for resignation was mere rumors. He further said that the Pakistani president's visit to Afghanistan couldn't take place due to bad weather, but the president would soon go to Afghanistan.

He said that Pakistani-Afghan ties would be seen taking much positive turn in the days to come.

In New Delhi, Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said Saturday that India had provided Pakistan several evidences relating to Mumbai attacks and urged Pakistan to cooperate with India.

Bitterly criticizing Pakistan at a press conference, Mukherjee asked Pakistan to give up the policy of denial, take tangible actions and hand over all those responsible for the Mumbai attacks.
