Hezbollah Condemns Israeli Kidnapping of 2 Lebanese
    2008-12-21 16:16:44     Xinhua

Lebanese Shiite armed group Hezbollah condemned the kidnapping of two Lebanese civilians by Israeli troops in south Lebanon, the party's Al-Manar TV reported Sunday.

In a statement broadcasted by the group, Hezbollah described the act as "clear violation of UN resolution 1701," wondering how will the UN Security Council respond.

Al-Manar TV said that the two Lebanese civilians suffered wounds during the interrogations by Israeli officers.

Israel handed over Saturday morning to the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) two Lebanese civilians, Mohammad Tarraf and his brother Hassan, after kidnapping them Friday from their olive fields in Blida village near the borders.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora, however, expressed his strong condemnation over the Israeli violation to UNIFIL commander Gen. Claudio Graziano, and thanked him for all efforts exerted to release the kidnapees.

UNIFIL command mediated overnight Friday between the Lebanese authorities and the Israeli command to ensure the release of the two civilians.
