Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF First Secretary and President Robert Mugabe has discharged the claim by Britain and her allies to undermine the country's independence saying Zimbabwe will only remain a country for the Zimbabweans, ZBC News reported on Saturday.
Speaking at the official opening of the 10th edition of the Zanu-PF National People's Conference on Friday, Mugabe emphasised the need for unity and castigated the rivalry that exist within the party saying it is time to come together and use competitiveness against the party as a nation.
Mugabe said the solution to Zimbabwe's economic sanctions lies in the lifting of the illegal sanctions. The call by the west for military intervention will only but be a threat to the country's stability.
Mugabe also said despite the negative criticism that keeps on mounting on the country the government will not turn back in its efforts to make sure that there is total black empowerment in the country.
He assured the nation that Zimbabwe will never collapse and called upon the nation to concur with the government in defending the country's sovereignty.
Mugabe also called on the party leadership to lead by example to the young generation and do away with using the party and their posts for unruly means.
The conference gave the party an opportunity to reflect on the achievements and setbacks of the winding year as we look forward to the coming year.
This year's conference was attributed to the late Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Elliot Manyika who died of a car crash recently. |
