Romanian Troops Continue Mission in Kosovo

Romanian troops in Kosovo are continuing the mission entrusted, to ensure security for the civilians in the deployment area, the Defense Ministry sources said on Tuesday.

Defense Minister Teodor Melescanu had a videoconference on the day with the Romanian troops in Kosovo, which is part of the NATO deployed troops to maintain stability in the province. During the conference, Major Daniel Pop, commander of Romanian detachment operating under KFOR, reported that the troops had a good morale and witnessed no incidents.

Pop said that the responsibility area is calm, and reported no threats or hostile actions against the Romanian soldiers from the local population.

The Romanian troops, including 60 Romanian policemen and 115 gendarmes, are deployed in Gorazdevac region, mainly inhabited by Serbs, and carry out their mission based on Resolution No. 1244 of the UN Security Council.
