Some 120 Jewish people gathered in an ancient royal palace in Beijing on Sunday to celebrate the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights.
People sang religious songs and ate traditional food after the Hanukkah lights were lit in a pavilion in Beijing's Prince Palace Gong.
Yehoyada Haim, the Israeli Ambassador to China, described the Chinese and Jewish civilisations as "among the oldest in the world."
"They share many, many values together. This is what I want to emphasise and hopefully this will bring us a step further in our relationships within the Jewish people, Israelis and the Chinese people."
Last year Hanukkah celebrations were held at the Great Wall with more than 100 attendees. Around 1,000 people of the Jewish faith live in Beijing.
This year Hanukkah started on December 16 and will end on December 23.
During the festival, Jewish people commemorate the miracle of the oil which fuelled the Eternal flame in the Temple in Jerusalem for eight days, despite there being only enough to fuel the flame for one day.
