The United States says it insists on the six-party talks to resolve the current nuclear standoff with North Korea.
The US reiterated that it would not talk with North Korea one-on-one, but Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice assured the North that the U.S. would not attack.
"I do believe that we have the right configuration now, both to make an agreement stick if we get one, but also to pressure the North Koreans to take a different course."
Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer has expressed strong concern that North Korea may soon conduct a second nuclear test.
"We think there's a real possibility and we're obviously concerned about that."
