Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi has left open the possibility that the issue of uranium enrichment was still part of negotiations.
He said on Sunday that Iran still favoured negotiations over confrontation, and hoped the European side returned to the talks.

"We believe that any result should be the consequence of negotiations."
The five permanent Security Council members plus Germany have offered Iran an incentive package. It would include help with peaceful nuclear development in exchange for a halt to uranium enrichment, which the West nations fear could be used for a nuclear weapon program.
However, Iran said it will respond to the package on Aug. 22.
Tehran has insisted on exercising its right to produce nuclear fuel as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, but Western powers are suspicious of its intentions because it concealed parts of its nuclear development from U.N. inspectors.
OPTIONAL-- [Meanwhile, Asefi also condemned attacks on Lebanese Hezbollah and Gaza and accused Israel of plotting the assault with America, knowing it had US support.

"According to our pre-information the Israeli regime was planning to commit such criminal acts with American support. The first thing is to stop the Israeli regime to continue their criminal acts."
Asefi warned that the Arab and Islamic countries will be the losers in the current Israeli battle.]
