The Russian Foreign Ministry says it has not yet independently confirmed the deaths of four embassy workers kidnapped in Iraq.
A video posted on the internet shows the graphic killings of three Russian diplomats kidnapped in Iraq, with an accompanying statement from an al-Qaida-linked group saying that all four hostages have been killed.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin says his country will try to confirm the authenticity of the video.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our embassy in Iraq are using all methods available as we continue working to verify the information."
The video, posted on an Islamic website that frequently airs militant messages, shows the beheading of two blindfolded men and the shooting of a third.
The web site also shows individual photographs of the four purported victims before the killings.
The four embassy workers were abducted early this month after an attack on their car in Baghdad's Mansour neighbourhood.
A fifth Russian was killed in the incident.
