Wu Poh-hsiung, Chairman of Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang party, along with Honorary Chairman Lien Chan arrived in Shanghai Friday to attend a two-day cross-Straits economic and cultural forum.

Wu and Lien were received by Wang Yi, director of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

They are here to attend the 4th Cross-Straits Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum, scheduled for December 20-21.

The forum, themed "deepening cross-Straits economic exchange and cooperation", is co-organized by the Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang.

Topics include expanding cross-Straits cooperation in the finance and service sectors, encouraging two-way investment and regularizing economic exchanges between the two sides.

Representatives from the Kuomintang, the People First Party and the New Party from Taiwan and the CPC will attend the forum. They will be joined by economic and cultural experts from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
