China is to bring about its biggest ever National Day military parade in history on next year's October 1 to mark the 60th founding anniversary of the People's Republic.
A Beijing-based media report earlier quoted a Defense Ministry official as saying that mass preparations which began earlier this time than ever are now well underway.
The Defense Ministry official adds that Chinese President Hu Jintao will inspect the parade for the first time since he took office.
According to the report, the parade's preparation offices in Beijing have already started recruiting young women of 17 to 25 years of age, who are soon to be trained as parade team members of a female militia.
Other army participants for the parade, of course, will be selected from the active service forces of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
The National Day military parade in 2009 will be the 14th and is believed to be the largest ever in scale since the founding of new China in 1949.
Past National Day military parades, including the very first one on China's founding, the ones on the 5th, 10th, 35th and 50th anniversaries, were also five major parades in the republic's history.
