[Photo: cnsphoto] US Secretary of Labor Elaine L Chao says ties between China and the United States will continue to grow as China is an important partner of the United States.
The visiting US Secretary of Labor made the remarks while delivering a keynote speech on "China and the US in the 21st Century" at Peking University on Wednesday.
Chinanews.com reports that Chao's visit to the University came before the scheduled 5th Sino-US Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED) to be held from Dec. 4 to 5 in Beijing.
In her address, Chao notes the fact that the US and China hold their 5th SED at this time of the world financial crisis has demonstrated the importance they have attached to the bilateral ties between the two countries.
The US Secretary of Labor says she hopes both China and the US enhance their cooperation and dialogues so that their commiments will benefit the peoples of both countries.
Chao also briefed her audience at Peking University on America's work in helping protect their citizens' health, security, and retirement insurance system. |
