The first wet nurse company in Changsha opened in central China's Hunan Province on Monday, Sanxiang City Express reports.
The salary for a wet nurse starts at 5,000 yuan (USD 730) per month, the founder of the company said. Due to the tainted milk scandal, wet nurse companies have opened in many cities in China, but this is the first in Changsha.
More than twenty women have applied for the job, but few have been recruited due to their families' opposition to the job.
According to the reporter's survey, about 80 percent of the respondents are unwilling to hire a wet nurse due to the uncertain quality of the breast milk.
One professional says breast-feeding doesn't mean feeding one's baby with mother¡¯s own breast milk. Because the breast-feeding process usually lasts for more than six months, testing for diseases, especially the HIV virus, is important among the wet nurses.
Besides, the process is a way for the baby to interact with its mother. So except in cases of illness or other reasons, mothers are advised to breast feed their own babies. |
