After two year's of rebuilding, a brand-new Wuchang Railway Station in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, is expected to begin operations on December 19.
The construction of the new railway station cost 600 million yuan, or about 81 million US dollars. It covers an area of 12,000 square meters, according to the locally based Chutian Metropolis Daily.
The 3-floor construction looks like a grand ancient palace, which is equipped with modern facilities.
The 12 waiting rooms in the station can hold as many as 8,000 people, from where passengers can reach the platforms directly via elevators. Meanwhile, a room for mothers and babies, and a room for the disabled, will provide special services.
Wuchang Station is one stop along the Beijing-Guangzhou railway line, a main stem of China's railway network. It was built 91 years ago in 1916. |
