CPC Political Bureau Hears Report on Olympics

The political bureau of CPC Central Committee heard a work report on the preparations of the 2008 Beijing Olympics at a meeting chaired by Chinese President Hu Jintao on Friday in Beijing.

The meeting called on utmost efforts exerted to holding a successful Olympics in 2008 in Beijing.

It also pledged that China will stick to its promises made when Beijing bid for the Olympiad and present a prudent and clean Olympics. Capital, materials and human resources will also be well allocated and utilized and be conducted with transparency.

Venue and other related constructions for the 2008 Beijing Olympics will be completed this year. Major preparation work for competition arrangements, opening and closing ceremonies and safety works are also expected to be done this year.
