Only 80.8 percent of toys were found qualified in a spot-check, according to a recent official national survey released by China's quality watchdog.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine spot-checked 120 products manufactured by 108 firms in Fujian, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shanghai recently.
Toy defects includes unhealthy raw material, sharp edges, dangerous jut, inappropriate brochure and so on, the watchdog said.
The watchdog found over 25 percent of toys unqualified in May last year in a spot-check. Serving as the world's largest toy exporter with export accounting for 70 percent of the world's total, safety remains a major problem for the giant toy manufacturer.
For instance, some hairy dolls were discovered filled with industrial waste, such as black-colored moldy cotton or gauze discarded by hospitals, have caused allergy cases among kids. |
