    2007-01-29 22:09:42     Xinhua
Nearly 200 students from Taiwan arrived in the Chinese mainland on Monday for an 8-day visit at the invitation of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (SCLF).

The students are from 30 key universities and academic institutes in Taiwan, including Taiwan University, Taipei University and Chengchi University.

Staying till Feb. 5, the students will attend a series of lectures and visit some local homes in the company of mainland students.

The activities are being arranged by the Kuomintang Youth League and Taiwan-based China Tide Foundation, according to SCLF.

The SCLF was founded in 1982 to commemorate Soong Ching Ling, who was the wife of Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925), a forerunner of China's modern political revolution. He was made honorary president of China by the Standing Committee of the fifth National People's Congress on May 16 of 1981.

The SCLF is engaged in promoting international friendship and peace, exchanges across the Taiwan Straits, and education of children.
