An official from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security says the development of the private sector increased the employment opportunities in China by 80 percent in 2006.
From January to November this year, more than 10.8 million Chinese citizens secured jobs in cities and towns.
Wang Yadong told Xinhua News Agency the huge increase in new employees is helping to promote economic and social development in China.
He also said the government will try to keep the official unemployment rate in cities and towns below 4.6 percent in 2007.
