Presidents, Prime Ministers, and senior officials from many African countries have arrived in Beijing for the upcoming Beijing Summit and the ministerial level meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

African countries' ambassadors to China have expressed their anticipation for the event, believing the meeting will inject new energy into Sino-African friendship and cooperation.

Reporter:

A total of 48 African countries that have diplomatic relations with China will participate in the two-day summit scheduled to start on Saturday.

Delegates from the African countries have gathered in the Chinese capital for the meeting, with the aim of further consolidating their friendship with China.

Egypt was the first country in Africa set up diplomatic relations with China 50 years ago.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is attending the Forum.

Looking back at the fifty years of friendship with China, Egypt’s ambassador to China, Mahmound Allam, says Egypt is aiming for further developing the friendship.

“Egypt is very proud of its history of getting along with China. We have gained a lot of experience in achieving development in Africa, and we hope Egypt can make more contributions to connecting China and African countries. Through expos held alongside the meeting, we wants to export more products to China.”

The Sudanese ambassador to China, Mirghani Mohamed Salih, says the history of the friendship between China and Africa has faced the test of time. China has firmly supported Africa’s fight for independence and prosperity, while African countries have always been supporters of China in the United Nations. As China and Africa are now both devoted to economic development, the potential for cooperation between the two sides is huge.

“The African continent is a rich virgin land with immense business chances and natural resources. I believe the cooperation, which is based on common prosperity, has a promising future.

Delegates of the meeting say they believe the Forum will create a platform for expanded exchanges, and will also build a foundation for strengthening the friendship.
