A new commercial heating device will be installed in residential communities and hotels in Qingdao City, in east China's Shandong Province by the end of October, local newspaper the 'Peninsula Metropolitan News' reports.

The mobile heat supplier, which looks like a van, specializes in recovering heat discarded from high energy consuming enterprises, such as thermal power plants, steel mills and cement plants.

After the waste heat is recovered and stored in the van it will be driven beside residential buildings where thermal energy can be transferred.

Statistics provided by the van's producer in Beijing shows that 658 tons of coal can be saved per year if a total of six of these mobile heat suppliers are used on a daily basis throughout winter.

The high-tech product was unveiled at the opening of the 1st International Recycling Economy Fair on Thursday in Qingdao.
