Indonesia will host the World Ocean Conference (WOC) in May 2009 in Manado, capital city of North Sulawesi province, the country's Marine and Fishery Minister said on Tuesday.
"There will be 1,000 participants from 111 countries and they will discuss topics of Ocean and Climate Change," the Indonesian Marine and Fishery Minister and Chairman of WOC Committee Freddy Numberi told reporters on Tuesday at a press conference.
The World Ocean Conference, scheduled on May 11-15, 2009, will also be attended by heads of states or governments, ministers and high officials from countries with ocean surroundings.
"It will also involve scientists, environmental and marine problem activists, entrepreneurs, industrialists, hobby groups, observers and those interested in the future of the world's safety, " he said. |
