About 1000 tourists have already applied to witness the launch of China's first lunar satellite, Chang'e I. The satellite will take off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest Sichuan province.
A source from Xichang Jinying Travel Agency of the special tourism program confirms that an evening launch will take place around October 26th. .
The satellite launch process will take about 20 seconds. Visitors will be permitted to take video from two platforms located 2.5 kilometers from the launch site. The platforms can accommodate roughly 2500 people.
According to the agency, successful applicants will be domestic tourists who pass security checks. |
