The report said the Chinese men¡¯s life expectancy is 71 years old.

The statistics were worked out based on the data in 2005 delivered by 193 WHO member countries. Status in seven areas, including death rate, disease incident control and medical service, were taken into consideration in the compiling.

Japan in Asia and San Marino in Europe top the life expectancies of female and male, reaching 86 and 80 years old respectively.

Women in Swaziland and men in Sierra Leo share the shortest lift expectancy of 37 years old, it added.

A healthy diet is still deemed the most important factor for longevity, while serious diseases like AIDS and tuberculosis lead to the low expectancy.

The organization predicted deaths related to the smoking-caused diseases will amount to 8.3 million in 2030 from 5.4 million in 2005. Heart disease, AIDS, cerebrovascular disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease will be major killers of people.
