Pakistan has confirmed that India has cancelled a proposed visit of its cricket team to the country due to tension over Mumbai attacks.
"The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) has officially conveyed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that the Indian cricket team will not visit Pakistan," the PCB said in a statement.
Indian team was scheduled to undertake its visit to Pakistan from Jan. 8 to Feb. 19, according to the News Network International news agency.
The BCCI President Shashank Manohar has officially conveyed the decision to Pakistan through an e-mail message, said the statement.
"We were waiting to hear from the (Indian) Government and today they have officially communicated their inability to grant permission at this juncture", the BCCI president said in his e-mail.
The PCB said that it had now invited Sri Lankan team to visit Pakistan. |
