Cuba accepted Flamengo's coaching job on Saturday and will return to the team after a three-year absence.

In 2005, Cuca was the team's head coach, but was fired after some internal problems led to his dismissal. However, in 2009, Cuca plans to start from scratch and begin a new legacy with the team.

Cuca spent most of the 2008 season with Botafogo. A poor outcome led to the coach release, sending him to Santos. While at Santos, Cuca's team did not perform as well as expected, leading once again to the firing.

Fluminense bet on the coach towards the end of the 2008 season, but the turnout was not was the team's directory wanted. Thus, Cuca was let go, leading to the entrance of Rene Simoes at Fluminense.

The Flamengo soccer team was scheduled to announce its new head coach last Friday. However, after Parreira declined the offer, the team was left desperate and coachless.

For this reason, the team scrambled to find a new head coach as soon as possible. The only other available candidate for the job was former Vasco coach Renato Gaucho. However, the team opted for Cuca, who will officially present himself to the media and the team on Monday.
