Indonesia Defeats Myanmar 3-0 in ASEAN Soccer Tournament
    2008-12-06 12:39:16     Xinhua

Indonesia defeated Myanmar 3-0 Friday night in a Group A match of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) soccer tournament.

The result kept the tournament co-hosts abreast in standings with two-time defending champions Singapore, which opened with a 5-0 routing of Cambodia.

"This was the tensest match for me. I was very nervous before the match, as we lost twice to Burma in two weeks," Indonesia coach Benny Dollo said after the game.

"But when we trained in Sawangan, I pushed the players in order to regain their confidence."

Budi Sudarsono, who was still not 100 percent fit, scored the crucial opening goal in the 26th minute before Firman Utina and Bambang Pamungkas each added a goal.

The second round of play for Group A is scheduled on Sunday with Singapore taking on Myanmar and Indonesia facing Cambodia.
