Zimbabwe Cheetahs Take on Australia in Dubai
    2008-11-28 23:59:14     Xinhua

Zimbabwe Cheetahs, still basking in the glory of qualifying for the World Cup, take on Australia in the opening match of the Dubai leg of the rugby World Sevens Series on Friday.

The Cheetahs will then take on Wales and defending champions New Zealand later in the day to complete their pool matches.

Liam Middleton's army, who only have one novice Ryan Manyika in their ranks, will take on an Australian side featuring nine new players at this stage of the game.

Young Manyika is the only local player who has never featured at this level of competition. And the International Rugby Board believes Zimbabwe could spring a surprise in their group.

Zimbabwe will not be an easy team to beat. After all, the Cheetahs are one of the two best African countries and will represent the continent at the World Cup in Dubai in March next year.

The Cheetahs dropped Fortune Chipendo and replaced him with Alex Ndangana while Jacques Leitao remains the captain.
