    2008-10-25 00:08:31     Xinhua
Ten Nigerians will represent the country at the 38th World Chess Olympiad holding in Dresden, Germany, the News Agency of Nigeria reported on Friday.

Akinola Bidemi, Secretary of the Nigerian Chess Federation, said the federation is yet to receive the visas but six domestic-based players and four officials are expected to leave for Germany on Nov. 10.

The players include Kigigha Bomo, Campbell Charles, Rachael Edward-Dappa, Folusayo Togun, Obasi Uwa and Adebayo Adegboyega, the 2008 Chess Master.

Femi Solaja, NCF spokesman, said the six players were selected based on their rankings in the country, adding that the double round robin and the 9-round Swiss event qualifiers were used for the selection which took place in Lagos last August.

He disclosed that two of the selected players took part in international competitions in preparation for the tournament.
