FIFA announced on Friday a provisional list of 38 referees for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The 38 referees are made up of 14 from Europe, seven from South America, five each from Africa, Asia and CONCACAF and two from Oceania. But the number is expected to be reduced to around 20 by the time the championship kicks off.
The youngest ref is 29-year-old Joel Aguilar Chicas of El Salvador, who will be 31 by the time of the championship and the oldest is 43-year-old Carlos Simon of Brazil, who was on the 2006 list and will be 44 when it kicks off June 11, 2010. |
