Knee Injury Makes Diarra Fitness Doubt
    2008-10-14 19:13:08     Xinhua

Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra is a serious injury worry for the next two games after returning from international duty with a knee injury.

Diarra reported back in Madrid on Tuesday after playing for Mali in the latest round of World Cup qualifying matches. However, he did so with a problem in his right knee.

Real Madrid doctors examined him and released a statement which confirmed some damage to his meniscus ligament, the extent of which has yet to be fully diagnosed.

"We will follow the evolution of the problem in the next 48 to 72 hours," confirmed the club website late on Tuesday.

That means that at the very best Diarra will miss the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid in the Vicente Calderon stadium this Saturday night as well as quite possibly the home match against Athletic Club Bilbao a week later and the key Champions League qualifier against Juventus in midweek.
