    2008-10-14 08:39:06     Xinhua

Argentine forward Jose Sand was called on Monday by Alfio Basile, the coach of Argentine soccer national team, to play in Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Chile.

Sand will replace Carlos Tevez, who accumulated a second admonition in Saturday's Uruguay match and can not play against Chile.

"The call arrives at my best moment. I worked for this moment and I wish I could show that there is a reason for me being here," Sand said.

Sando, 28, made his name in Lanus Club, where he had scored 32 goals in 38 games and helped the club win the opening tournament 2007.

During the match against Chile, Juan Roman Riquelme will not play, and the presence of Sergio "Kun" Aguero is doubtful.

Argentina is a joint second with Brazil on 16 points, after leader Paraguay with 20 points.
