Osasuna Sack Coach Ziganda after Winless Start
    2008-10-13 23:28:48     Xinhua
Spanish Primera Liga side Osasuna announced the sacking of coach Jose Angel Ziganda on Monday.

Ziganda, who was in his third season with the Pamplona-based club, has paid the price for his side's inability to win any of their six opening league games in the new season.

They have four draws and two defeats and currently lie just above the relegation places.

"Jose Angel Ziganda is no longer first team coach of Osasuna," confirmed a statement on club's official website, before adding that Ziganda's assistant Andoni Goikoetxea had also been relieved of his functions.

Both Ziganda and Goikoetxea are former Osasuna players and they took over first team coaching duties after Javier Aguirre left to coach Atletico Madrid. Ziganda had been Aguirre's assistant manager.

"The club thanks them for their work in their two years in front of the team and thanks them for their hard work," added the statement, which said the new coach would be named in the "next few hours."

The new coach is expected to be former Spain, Espanyol, Benfica and Real Madrid boss Jose Antonio Camacho.
